I’m bummed I didn’t know about this before the holidays because I was looking for another cutesy Christmas short story similar to The Christmas Pact by Vi Keeland & Penelope Ward but I happened to read this after the holiday was over. Thankfully Buffalo is cold and snowy still, so the ambiance was appropriate to still check this one out.
Speaking of Buffalo… there’s something that I will do to a story that is set somewhere I’ve lived or been to quite a bit (this is only a few places). But when a story is set or takes place here, in Buffalo, I will always be a little more cautious about the things and the surrounding area. The last and only other story I’ve personally read that took place here was Fire & Ice by Rachel Spangler another romance story that took place here. But this one didn’t really have any specifics about Buffalo other than they got it right. They didn’t call it “Upstate NY” they properly called it Western NY.
The story itself was cute and adorable. It made me smile almost throughout and each time you thought things were going to work out they didn’t. It was a cute story that definitely would make for a Hallmark Christmas Movie if it’s not already in the works. The storytelling that the authors included was spot on allowing each character a chance to grow and shine while also allowing the story to progress quickly (being a short story).
Overall, I thought that Home Shopped Holiday was the cheesy holiday audiobook I needed. It was performed well by a full cast including a lot of familiar names. Queue this one up if you’re looking for a holiday audiobook that won’t break the bank or your time. Perfect for that 2-hour road trip a lot of us have to take during the holidays.
