Funny. Cute. Flew Through It

Having read and thoroughly enjoyed Roommaid, I had to check out The Paid Bridesmaid when I saw it was coming out. I liked the “will they?” back and forth in the other title I read from her and I knew going into this one that I enjoyed the style and way her Romantic Comedy books were written. I was completely correct in my presumption and I enjoyed this one just as much as I did Roommaid.
The Paid Bridesmaid, not that I want to compare it to other media – reminded me a TON of a combination of Hitch (Will Smith) and The Wedding Ringer (Kevin Hart). Rachel owns her own company where she is the maid of honor (or bridesmaid) for women who need them. She provides her services and is there for them when no one else will be (for whatever reason that is).
The number of things that kept going wrong throughout this book had me in stitches. From little things to BIG things – Rachel had to help her bride deal with so many of them. Then, throw in the obvious connection between her and Camden (who thinks she’s lying to him but about other things) and the sparks fly. I loved their back and forth and I thought that Wilson did a great job providing them with enough chemistry and connection to weather storms but also have it be believable enough.
I don’t want to go into the ending but the scene at the end where Rachel chats with the group of women she employs about the future of the business might be one of my favorite scenes. The growth and realization – followed by the reveal not too long after… so good.
Wilson does it again and wrote a funny Rom Com that I would LOVE to see turned into a movie. I’ll continue to look for her romantic comedies in the future and hope that they’re as good as The Paid Bridesmaid and Rommaid were.
From Sariah Wilson, the bestselling author of Roommaid, comes a captivating romantic comedy about what happens when a wedding party mixes business with romance.
Rachel Vinson is a bridesmaid for hire: part confidante, part wedding planner, and one hundred percent pretend BFF. Discretion guaranteed. Her next gig is a destination wedding – livestreamed and sponsored – for an Instagram influencer. That means a paradise of new contacts, which could be a boon to her already booming business. If Rachel can keep the very handsome and slightly too interested best man at bay, that is.
High-tech entrepreneur Camden Lewis must know: Who is this gorgeous, intelligent, and mysterious woman? Too good to be real. Convinced she’s a corporate spy out to tank his company, Camden’s not letting her out of his sight. But the constant surveillance is also opening his eyes to things about Rachel that he likes. If she’s a spy, she’s certainly the cutest one he’s ever seen.
As the week’s worth of wedding events march along, Rachel and Camden are learning almost everything there is to know about each other. Rachel’s made a career out of always a bridesmaid…but perhaps there’s a chance for her own trip down the aisle?
