Looking for Ms. Wright?
4 out of 5 stars
Looking for Ms. Wright? (easily one of the funniest lines in this book) sort of fits the description as well. Sara Wright is a dog trainer at one of the best police training facilities in the US. She’s committed to finding the right dog for the right handler every time. So, when Isabel shows up on her doorstep one day, frazzled and a week early for training that she wasn’t supposed to be signed up for, Sara is a bit perplexed.
Enter a cutesy romantic comedy featuring two women who are pretty perfect for each other – it’ll just take Sara a while to come around to that idea. See… she doesn’t date cops and that’s quickly becoming a problem. But Isabel is relentless and I think by the end they both pretty happy that it was that way.
The story (being what I would consider a Romantic Comedy) doesn’t feature a ton of drama in it. There was a little bit surrounding a past relationship (and current friendship). But overall, it was just one of those easy reading stories that makes you smile. Izzy and Sara were very cute together and they reminded me of a couple that I’m friends with.
Easily lost in a book like this is the fact that Cummings got the training and the police aspects of this dead on. I ended up looking up her bio and it is no surprise as to why though. I like that it felt real. It felt authentic. And it made me smile. You can’t ask for much more from an audiobook.
Also, how cute is that photo on the cover?
Book Description:
Sara Wright knows better than to fall for a cop.
For Sara, an elite police dog trainer for the federal government, attractive women in uniform are an occupational hazard. But she gave her heart to a coworker once before, and the battle scars from that failed relationship are still fresh. She dodges every chance at romance with the officers she trains, focusing her energy on turning out the finest handler-canine teams in the country. But when annoyingly perky, unfairly sexy Isabel Marquez arrives at Homeland Security’s Northeast Regional Training facility brimming with excitement and a surprising desire to succeed, Sara’s good intentions start to falter. She can’t help being drawn to Isabel’s enthusiasm, and, okay, her long dark hair and brilliant smile don’t hurt, either. Keeping their contact limited to friendship is harder than she thought. When it comes to enforcing her own rules of the heart, Sara might need to break a few for a chance at forever.
