A Trip You Won’t Forget
4.5 out of 5 stars
I recently finished reading The Trip, a sapphic romance that follows a group of women on a road trip/adventure. One of the standout aspects of this book was the friendship between the older women (the ones that planned the trip). They were hilarious and had me cracking up throughout the story. Their dynamic added a lot of depth and humor to the narrative. They hammed up certain aspects when they wanted something and had everyone reeling in other situations. It was a blast.
The Trip was a slow burn, borderline enemies-to-lovers story between the main romantic interests. The tension in the early going and their growing chemistry helped the story progress quickly. It was fun watching them realize they were falling in love.
The narration by Abby Craden was top-notch and really brought the story to life. She did an excellent job capturing the characters and their relationships, and her performance made this such a breeze to listen to (as she always does).
The trip was hilarious and winding, seemingly going to the most random places. And it sounded like a blast. The women got into all sorts of shenanigans, and it was weird but funny to hear how they messed with the dad related to how his “baby,” the Winnebago, was doing.
Overall, “The Trip” was a charming and entertaining sapphic romance that I highly recommend. The friendship between the women, the slow-burn romance, and the top-notch narration all combined to make this a standout listen.
Book Description:
Who wants to take a road trip with two old, bickering women and a complete stranger? Not Jill Savoy. She finds herself behind the wheel of her father’s sacred Winnebago anyway, responsible for her grandmother and adopted aunt, both of whom are mischievous teenagers in old bodies, and then there’s Shay.
The last thing on Shay Macaluso’s mind was a vacation. Fresh out of a relationship, she was looking forward to beginning her new life, but her aunt Chloe took the proverbial monkey wrench to her plans. Duped into taking the trip, Shay feels like her new life is on hold, but as the adventure unfolds she realizes that she’s on the highway to something extraordinary.
