A Good Start

4 out of 5 stars

When I found out that “Kindle Worlds” were going to be added to the Kindle Unlimited program I was really excited.  (The only thing that would make this news better was that they were going to consider releasing some of the best stories onto Audible). Some of my favorite authors writing books in some of my other favorite authors series is like a dream come true.  At the point of posting, I’ve read 6 of Abrahams books and I have 2 more in my queue.  Seeing that he wrote a trilogy of novellas in The Perseid Collapse world was too good to pass up.

Having never read The Perseid Collapse series didn’t put me at too much of a disadvantage reading Crossing.  I’m familiar with the storyline and Abrahams does a pretty nice job explaining what is going on (and eludes to a lot more).  Don’t worry, I’m going to read it at some point but it’s been on TBR pile for so long I need to make time for it now.

Sorry about that, back to the review! This book was pretty good.  Not great, but good.  I’m extremely familiar with Abrahams work and this was up there with most of it.  The story follows a family trying to escape Maine after the breakdown.  They seem to run into problems around every corner but need to stick together to get out of this alive.

I know that there are more stories in the series and this is a hard one to review on just book one but it was a good start to the series.  I hope that the series picks up a bit and knowing Abrahams, it will.

Overall, Crossing was a good start to a “mini” series under another series.  A cool crossover and a great way to get into Abrahams if you’re unfamiliar with his other post-apocalyptic fiction.

With a quote from the author of the series like this, it’s hard not to get excited about the series as a whole “After listening to his idea for the Pilgrimage Series, I knew readers were in for a treat. I was right.”

ROM THE BESTSELLING AUTHOR OF THE MEGA-HIT POST-APOCALYPTIC THRILLER "HOME"

CROSSING is a post-apocalyptic disaster story of survival. James Rockwell is vacationing in Maine with his family, when an earth-changing explosion sends them on a race for their lives. Their first step is escaping an island in the midst of a tsunami, and it only gets more dangerous from there. Can they find their way home as civilization crumbles around them?
Set in the post-apocalyptic world of Steven Konkoly's best-selling Perseid Collapse series, CROSSING follows the same timeline of cataclysmic events from one family's perspective.

It's a bullet-train of a thriller riding on the edge of the rails to the last page.
CROSSING is a novella and is part one of The Pilgrimage Series.
