A Magical Journey of Love and Healing
5 out of 5 stars
Fly With Me by Andie Burke is, without a doubt, one of the cutest books I’ve had the pleasure of reading in a very long time. It’s a masterful combination of the “opposites attract” trope, woven seamlessly with a mixture of others that blend together harmoniously to create a truly heartwarming story.
The novel introduces us to Olive, a character living her life not just for herself but also for someone else, a concept that becomes heartbreakingly clear as the story unfolds. Without giving away any spoilers, the tragic story of Olive’s family is revealed gradually, adding layers of depth to her character and making her struggles all the more relatable. (Believe me, there’s an entire review I could write about her family dynamic.)
Olive, an ER nurse with a paralyzing fear of flying, finds herself on a journey of a lifetime when she crosses paths with the gorgeous and driven co-pilot of the very plane she dreads boarding. Andie Burke crafts their meeting (yet another spoiler I don’t want to reveal) with such finesse that the magic between them leaps off every page. It’s a connection that’s difficult to put into words, but Burke’s skillful storytelling allows readers to tangibly feel their bond, even in the early stages of their relationship/friendship.
I must admit that I haven’t been so engrossed in a book in quite some time. Fly With Me made me laugh, cry, and everything in between. What truly sets this book apart is its ability to keep a smile on my face throughout, even when life outside its pages is challenging. It serves as the perfect “pick-me-up” read, a testament to Andie Burke’s talent for crafting stories that touch the heart.
Moreover, Chelsea Stephens’ narration elevates the book to an entirely new level. She expertly captures the emotions and inner turmoil of each character, enhancing the overall experience. Stephens’s performance adds an extra layer of authenticity and emotion, making Fly With Me an absolute joy to listen to. In fact, her narration was so exceptional that it enhanced an already stellar book, leading me to wish I could give it six stars out of five.
In conclusion, Fly With Me was a delightful journey through love, healing, and self-discovery. Andie Burke’s storytelling prowess and Chelsea Stephens’s remarkable narration make it a must-listen for anyone in search of a heartwarming, feel-good story. It’s a book that not only tugs at your heartstrings but also leaves you with a lasting smile, reminding us all that love can truly conquer even the darkest of fears.
Book Description:
A sparkling and steamy Sapphic romance, Fly with Me by Andie Burke is filled with sharp banter and that sweet, swooping feeling of finding “the one” when and where you least expect it.
A one-way ticket to love or a bumpy ride ahead?
Flying-phobic ER nurse Olive Murphy is still gripping the armrest from her first-ever take-off when the pilot announces an in-flight medical emergency. Olive leaps into action and saves a life, but ends up getting stuck in the airport hours away from the marathon she’s running in honor of her brother. Luckily for her, Stella Soriano, the stunning type A copilot, offers to give her a ride.
After the two spend a magical day together, Stella makes a surprising request: Will Olive be her fake girlfriend?
A video of Olive saving a life has gone viral and started generating big sales for Stella’s airline. Stella sees their union as the perfect opportunity to get to the boys’ club executives at her company who keep overlooking her for a long-deserved promotion. Realizing this arrangement could help her too, Olive dives into memorizing Stella’s comically comprehensive three-ring-binder guide to fake dating. As the two grow closer, what’s supposed to be a ruse feels more and more real. Could this be the romantic ride of their lives, or an epic crash and burn?
